METALLURGY
METALLURGY, a branch of industry. It is divided into nonferrous metallurgy (extraction, beneficiation of nonferrous metal ores, smelting of nonferrous metals and their alloys) and ferrous metallurgy (extraction, beneficiation and clotting of ore raw materials, blast furnace production, steel‑making, hot rolling and cold rolling of ferrous metals, steel pipes and metalware). Ferrous M. includes the extraction of non‑metallic raw materials for the production of coke industry products, ferroalloys and refractories; secondary processing of ferrous metals. The largest industry enterprises: Buribayevsky Ore Mining and Processing Plant (extraction and beneficiation of copper‑sulphide ores, associated extraction of gold and silver), Bashkir Сopper, Ishstal (scrap metal processing), Uchaly Ore Mining and Processing Plant, AO Bashvtormet and Bashvtortsvetmet (collection and processing of scrap, wastes of ferrous and nonferrous metals), Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (rolled products, wire from various steels, microwire, tape, ropes, nails).
