MIGRATION OF THE POPULATION, the movement of people (migrants) across borders of certain territories with change of residence for permanent or temporary period, or regular return. In terms of direction of relocation, external (immigration and emigration of population) and internal (inter‑region., intraregional) M.p. are distinguished; in terms of duration — irrevocable and returnable; reasons — economic, social, political, etc.; way of realization — organized and unorganized (independent); legal and illegal. M.p. — the source of labour resources formation, has an impact on the demographic structure (population size, its sex and age structure, national composition, educational and professional level, settlement, etc).

Since the days of Soviet Power tight migration ties have developed with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, due to them the negative balance was replaced by the surplus of M.p. Within Ufa city agglomeration a stable pendulum M.p. formed. With the development of tourism seasonal M.p. has increased. Intraregional migration moves people from the south‑east and south areas of the RB to urban areas. Until 1996 in rural areas there was a migratory increase, which then started to decline. Between 1991—2006 migration growth decreased several times. According to forecasts of the Federal Service of state statistics of the RF, the RB expects the rate of M.p to decrease, labor migration will not have a significant impact on the dynamics of the population. 46,667 people arrived in the Republic in January–May 2018, while 50,567 people left the territory, the migration rate decreased by 3,900 people; 11,704 people arrived in Ufa, 8,814 people left the territory of Ufa, the increase was 2,890 people.
