MISHKINSKY RAION
MISHKINSKY RAION, located in the N of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. Abolished on February 1, 1963, territory became part of the Birsky Raion. Newly established on January 13, 1965. Territory – 1,689 km2. Adm. centre – Selo Mishkino, which is located 131 km N of Ufa. Population – 23.1 thous. people (2017).
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 104.0 thous. ha (61.6% of the total area), including arable lands – 54.9, hayfields – 18.3, pastures – 30.7; forest area – 56.6, surface waters – 0.9. Agricultural enterprises [4 agricultural enterprises, an agricultural artel, 80 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain, forage crops, potatoes, dairy and meat cattle breeding. Sheep breeding, beekeeping and horse breeding are well‑developed. There are: Road Construction and Maintenance Administration, MTS, etc. The Birsk– Tastuba–Satka (Chelyabinsk Obl.), and Ufa–Birsk–Yanaul highways cross the territory.
There are: Agricultural and Industrial College, 10 general education schools with 26 branches, 6 pre‑school educational institutions, children’s arts school, the Putnik (Traveler) Centre for Children’ and Youth’ Tourism, Excursions and Patriotic Education, a youth’ sports school; a central hospital and a local hospital, 2 medical outpatient clinics, 32 medical and obstetrical centers; 38 clubs, 30 libraries; 2 physical education and health retreat centers; and 10 folk amateur art groups.
