MONAKOV, Yuri Borisovich (7.8.1942, Tashkent – 3.1.2011, Ufa), Chemist. Acad. of the RAS (1997), Merited Acad. of the AS RB (1998), D.Sci. (Chemical Sciences) (1981), Full Professor (1984). Merited Master of Sciences of the RB (1995). Laureate of the RF Government Award in field of Science and Technology (2004). Awarded with the Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1986). Graduated from the Tashkent Textile Institute (1965). Since 1968, he worked at the IOC, simultaneously, since 2000 – at the BSU. Scientific research is dedicated to the creation of catalytic systems for ioncoordinated polymerization of dienes and complex radical polymerization of vinyl monomers, the analysis of the structure, mechanism of action and kinetic heterogeneity of active sites, polymerization with the opening of the monomer cycle of norbornene structure, copolymerization of various monomers. M. developed environmental friendly processes for producing synthetic rubbers with improved properties, catalysts and methods for the industrial production of synthetic guttapercha; he created polymers based on acetylene, norbornene, dicyclopentadiene, chloroprene, and fullerene.
