ICE MOTOR RACING
ICE MOTOR RACING, a form of motor racing sport, where the competitors ride special motorcycles (class 500 cm3, without brakes, studded tyres of up to 28 mm) on an ice track. In Bashkortostan, the first Ice Motor Racing Competition which was part of the All‑Russia Motorcycling Competition was held in 1955 on the ice of the Yakutov Park Lake (Ufa). The Bashkiriya Team was set up at the Motoclub of Construction Trust No.3 in Ufa in 1962. Since then the team was part of the elite of the Soviet Ice Speedway Sport for many years. The G.Kadyrov Centre of Technical Sports was established in 2000 and became the world leader in I.m.r. Merited Masters of Sports D.A.Bulankin, G.F.Kadyrov, N.O.Krasnikov, B.A.Samorodov, the Masters of Sports, International Class, N.B.Akimov, N.K.Galiakberov, Yu.D.Dudorin, I.A.Kononov, A.V.Shishegov and others have demonstrated high results at the international competitions. The semi‑finals and finals of the European Championships (1964–65), the finals (1966–68, 2004, 2007, 2009) and semi‑finals (1969–74, 1976, 1978, 2002, 2005) of the World Championships, the European Championship finals (2003, 2010, 2013, 2016—17, 2019) were held in Ufa; the Semi‑finals (1967) and the finals (1968) of the World Championships – in Salavat; the semi‑finals of the World Championships (1967) and Europe Championships (2003) – in Sterlitamak; and the semi‑finals and finals of the European Championship (2007) – in Uchaly. A great contribution to the development of I.m.r. was made by the Merited Russian Coaches R.P.Mustafin, A.P.Sukhov, international time‑keepers A.L.Balaban, A.N.Ivliyev, M.Ya. Klevansky, V.Ya.Liskovich, international judges R.M.Gafurov and Kadyrov.
