MUBARYAKOV, Arslan Kotlyakhmetovich (Arslan Mubaryakovich Kotlyakhmetov, 15.12.1908, Derevnya Asino of Verkhneuralsky Uyezd of Orenburg Gub., now Selo Assy of Beloretsky Raion of the RB, — 5.5.1977, Ufa), Actor, Director. People’s Artist of the USSR (1955), Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1944) and BASSR (1940). Laureate of the BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1989, posthumously). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1949), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1968), Order of the Badge of Honour (1944). After graduating from the Bashkir Technical School of Arts (1931), he worked as an Actor, a Dir. of the 2nd Bashkir Travelling Theatre (ref. Sibay Drama Theatre). Between 1934—77 — at BSAT: between 1937— 39 — Artistic Managing Dir., since 1949 — Dir., between 1951—54 — Chief Stage Director.

The actor of bright original stage talent who created many heroic images, possessed expressive looks and rich voice of beautiful timbre. The art of transformation most vividly expressed itself in the roles of classical Russian and foreign works of drama, including the role of Othello (the namesake tragedy by William Shakespeare) that was highly appreciated at the Festival of Bashkir Literature and Art in Moscow (1955). He staged plays at the Bashkir Drama Theatre.
