NEFTEKAMSK, a city and railway station in the RB. Located 220 km NW of Ufa. Territory – 147.2 km2. Population – 139.3 thous. people (2018).

The economy is comprised of mechanical engineering, fuel and energy industries. In N., there are Karmanovskaya State District Power Plant, PAO NEFAZ, OOO Neftekamsk Machine Building Plant, AO Iskozh, Neftekamsk Leather Goods Factory, Neftekamsk Bakery, etc. Gorkovskaya Railway (Amzya–Neftekamsk–Agidel line) and the following highways: Dyurtyuli– Neftekamsk, Krasnoholmsky–Nikolo‑Beryozovka, and Neftekamsk–Yanaul cross the territory.

In N., there are a branch of Bashkir State University, Neftekamsk Engineering College; Oil, Pedagogical, and Multidiscip‑linary colleges, 19 general education schools, 31 pre‑school educational institutions, 4 art schools, Arts Centre, Vened Children’s and Youth’s Centre; Shturm Tourism, Local History and Excursions Educational and Health Centre; 3 youth sports schools, Central City Library, Philharmonic Hall, City Centre of Culture, Youth Palace Centre, 3 clubs, centralized library system, a local history museum, the Miras Art Gallery; Physical Culture House, the Toros Sports Centre, Toros Hockey Club, Olympia Tennis Club; Petropavlovskaya (Peter and Paul’) Church, and a mosque. In the city, there are 16 folk and 11 exemplary amateur art groups, etc. The Krasnoye Znamya and The Cholman newspapers are published.

Founded in 1957 as an oilmen settlement due to the development of Arlanskoye Oil Field near Selo Kasyovo of  Krasnokamsky Raion. Since 1959 Rabochy Posyolok N., since 1963 it has acquired the status of a city. In N., there are 8 objects of cul­tural heritage: the Petropavlovskaya (Peter and Paul’) Church (1824–25), the Vechtomovs’ Merchants Estate (late 19th century), the Warrior‑Liberator Monument (1967), a Monument of V.I.Lenin (1986), etc.
