PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY, a manufacturing industry, in which production processes are based on the petrochemical synthesis of products. Includes the production of synthetic rubber, the products of basic organic synthesis, black carbon, rubber‑asbestos and tire industry. The hydrocarbons of oil and gas serve as the raw materials for P.i. P.i. of the RB produces a wide range of products: polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate, copolymers, synthetic fatty acids, synthetic rubbers, resins, alcohols, detergents, phenolic anti‑oxidants, corrosion inhibitors, surfactants, esters, additives to fuels, oils, polymers, etc. The largest industry enterprises: Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, Synthez-Kauchuk, Ufaorgsintez, Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant, Ufa Plant of Elas tomer Materials, Products and Struc‑tures, large petrochemical plants at the Ufa Refinery.
