NURIYEV, Ziya Nuriyevich [21.3.1915, Derevnya Verkhnelachentau of Birsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. (Birsky Raion of the RB) – 19.10.2012, Moscow], Communist Party Activist. Candidate of Economics (1966). Hero of Socialist Labour (1975). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1957, 1965, 1971, 1975, 1985), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1949), Order of the Badge of Honour (1944), Order of Salavat Yulayev (2005). Graduated from the K.A.Timiryazev’ Bashkir Ped. Institute (1933), Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the ACP(b) (Moscow, 1951). Since 1944, 1st Secretary of Kiginsky Raion Committee of the ACP(b). Since 1945, Head of Department of Agriculture at Bashkir Obl. Committee of the ACP(b). Since 1951, Head of the Organizational Department and Secretary of the Bashkir Obl. Committee of the CPSU. Between 1955–59 Chairman of the Supreme Council of the BASSR, between 1957–69 1st Secretary of the Bashkir Obl. Committee of the CPSU. Since 1969, the Minister of Procurement of the USSR. Between 1973–85, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. He made a significant contribution to the social economic and cultural development of the Republic. Member of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces (1954–69).
