FACING STONES

FACING STONES, rocks with decorative properties. They have different origin: magmatic (granite, sienites, diorites, gabbro, dolorite, labradorite, tufa, porphyry, etc), sedimentary (limestone, dolomite, sandstone, gypsum), metamorphic (marble, quartzite). The quality of F.s. is determined by their physical and mechanical properties (strength, frost resistance, abrasion, etc), decorativeness (polishing ability, texture and color), blockiness (determines the industrial value of F.s. deposits).

Mansurovskoye and Tashmurunskoye granite deposits (Uchalinsky Raion), Severo-Buskunskoye Dolerite and Shratauskoye Gabbro deposits (both – Baymaksky Raion) are developed in the territory of Bashkortostan. The following deposits were explored: Assinskoye (medium), Bedyaryshskoye (medium), Muldakayevskoye and Inzerskoye (large) Algae Limestone, Kadyshskoye Marbled Limestone (all – Beloretsky Raion), Ryskuzhinskoye Limestone Deposit (Abzelilovsky Raion), Malomeshcherinskoye Oolite Limestone (medium; Blagoveshchensky Raion), etc. Granites from the Mansurovskoye Deposit are light gray, uniformly grained, slightly fissured, decorative, high‑strength, and frost‑resistant; granites from the Tashmurunskoye Deposit are gray and decorative; dolerites from the Severo‑Buskunskoye Deposit are black, fine‑grained, and monolithic; gabbro and gabbronorites from the Shratauskoye Deposit are fine- and medium‑grained, greenish‑grey; limestones from Assinskoye, Bedyaryshskoye, Muldakayevskoye and Inzerskoye deposits are blue‑grey, gray, pinkish and reddish brown to red sealing wax colour, grayish yellow, decorative and highly decorative; marmorized limestones from the Kadyshskoye Deposit are black, dark grey, highly decorative, etc. The following manifestations have been explored: highly decorative aventurine quartzites of the Kirelskoye, gabbro of the Khamitovskoye, quartzite‑sandstone of the Baktinskoye deposits (all – Beloretsky Raion).
