REPTILES
REPTILES (Reptilia), a class of vertebrates. There are 4 orders (rhynchocephalia, crocodiles, turtles and squamous) with more than 7800 species. In the RB there are 10 types of turtle and squamous orders. Their bodies have length range of 25–150 cm, and an elongated form. Lizards have compressed bodies, and snakes have rounded bodies. Their body temperature is inconsistent, depends on the environmental temperature; in adverse conditions they fall into winter hibernation. They are aquatic, semiaquatic, and terrestrial animals. They eat animal food, some species (swamp turtle) occasionally also eat plants. Can be found in the Bashkir piedmont of the Urals, less often in the Bashkir Trans-Urals and the Bashkir (South) Urals. Slowworm, steppe viper, smooth snake, steppe ratsnake, diee snake, and pond turtle are included in The Red List of the RB.
