INDUSTRY, a branch of the economy, having a decisive impact on the level of economic development of the productive forces of a society; the total of enterprises. It is represented by mining (fuel industry, metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials industry, timber industry) and manufacturing (petrochemical industry, fuel, chemical, industry of building materials, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, woodworking industry, glass and porcelain industry, consumer goods industry, food industry, microbiological industry, grain- and flour-grinding and feed mill industry, medical industry, printing industry) types of industries. The RB is the only producer of iron pyrite and concrete pump trucks in Russia; the largest manufacturer of logging hoists, concrete mixer trucks, baking, caustic and calcined soda, butyl and isobutyl alcohols, steel wire, lighting lamps, metal-cutting machines, helicopters, automobile gasoline, synthetic resins and plastics, diesel fuel, processing of oil raw materials.
