PUCHKOV, Viktor Nikolayevich
PUCHKOV, Viktor Nikolayevich (b.17.8. 1938, Tula), Geologist. Associate Member of the RAS (2000), Dr. Sci. (Geology and Mineralogy) (1978), Full Professor (1993). Merited Master of Sciences of RB (1999). After graduating from the MSU (1960), he worked at the Komi Institute of Geology, branch of the AS USSR (Syktyvkar), since 1974 — at the Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of the Ural Branch of the RAS (Yekaterinburg). Since 1991 Dir. of the Institute of Geology (Ufa). Scientific work is dedicated to Geodynamics and Tectonics of the Urals and adjacent territories. P. developed the basic provisions of neomobilism, tectonics of lithospheric plates, identified the diagnostic signs of passive margins of paleocontinents, proved their rift nature and determined the stages of development; introduced new fauna groups (conodonts) into the practice of regional studies in the Urals.
