RAKHIMOV, Murtaza Gubaydullovich (b.7.2.1934 in Derevnya Tavakanovo of Kugarchinsky Raion of the BASSR), Statesman. Merited Innovator of the RSFSR (1974), Merited Oil Industry Worker of the BASSR (1977). Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1986), Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1994), Order of the Badge of Honour (1980), 1st (2010) and 2nd (1999) Class Order for Merits to the Fatherland, Order for Merits to the Republic of Bashkortostan (2000), Order of Peoples’ Friendship (2009), Order of Salavat Yulayev (2004) and others. Graduated from the UPI (1964). Between 1986–90, Dir. at Ufa Refinery named after the 22nd Congress of the CPSU. Since 1989 Member of the Supreme Council of the USSR, since 1990 Chairman of the Supreme Council of the RB. Between 1993–2010, President of the RB. Since 2010, Chairman of the Ural Charity Foundation, Chairman of the Presidential Council of the RB and Public Security Сouncil of the RB. Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the RF (1993– 2001), State Council of the RF (2000–10). R. signed The Declaration on State Sovereignty of the BSSR, The Federal Treaty and The Annex concerning the RB, The Agreement on the Delimitation of Subjects of Competence and Mutual Delegation of Powers between Public Authorities of The Russian Federation and Public Authorities of The Republic of Bashkortostan, etc. The Constitution of the RB (1993) was developed under the leadership of R.
