RELICTS
RELICTS, the species of organisms, which are part of flora and fauna of the given territory and also remnants of the past eras. In the Republic, there are R.s. among flowering plants (more than 80 species), naked‑seeded plants (savine juniper), fern‑like plants (Alpine woodsia, Dyke’s bladderpod), and mosses (brachythecium geheebii, pelekium minutulum, etc). R.s. also include some animals (least shrew, wood lemming), and plants: Flavocetraria nivalis lichen, decorative (Robert’s crane’s bill, Dactylorhiza ochroleuca, etc), fodder (Melissitus platycarpos, Phleum phleoides, etc), medicinal plants (Adonis sibiricus, Bupleurum multinerve, etc), nectariferous plants (sage‑leaf mullein, shrubby cinquefoil, etc), food plants (water chestnut, Allium obliquum, etc), poisonous (savine juniper, Scrophularia scopolii, etc) and others. Introduction of allium obliquum, platycarpous trigonella, and other R.s. was conducted in the Botanical Garden Institute. There are over 40 R.s. in The Red List of the RB (Arctic willow, Alp lily, Stigyan rush, etc), and the flavocetraria nivalis. Some R.s. (Gymnadenia odoratissima, hybrid peopny, Cephalanthera longifolia, etc) are also included in The Red List of the RF.
