CHARADRIIFORMES

CHARADRIIFORMES, an order of birds. There are 11 known families with more than 300 species. There are 49 species of Burhinidae, Scolopacidae, Charadriidae, Glareolidae, Laridae, Recurvirostridae families in the RB. Migratory birds of small (small plover with body length of 15 cm and body mass range of 30–50 g) and average (great black‑headed gull with body length of 61 cm and body mass range of 950–2000 g) sizes, the females are larger. They eat invertebrates, berries and plant seeds, some eat fish, carrion, and waste products. They inhabit meadows, sandbank, fields, and forests. They are spread throughout the whole territory of the Republic. Common snipe, woodcock and judcock are game animals. Sociable plover, Eurasian curlew, oystercatcher, little tern, black‑winged pratincole, great black‑headed gull, black‑winged stilt, and avocet are included in The Red Lists of the RB and the RF, whimbrel is included in The Red List of the RB.
