MATERNITY HOSPITALS

MATERNITY HOSPITALS, the healthcare institutions of inpatient type for provision of qualified medical care to pregnant women before, during and after childbirth, and also to newborns. They may operate on their own or be subdivisions of multidisciplinary healthcare organizations. The first M.h. in Ufa was opened in 1910. Between 1923–24 the institutions for protection of motherhood and infancy, mother and child centers and consultations for pregnant women were created. Between 1970–80s specialized M.h. for women with cardiovascular, endocrine pathology and rhesus incompatibility condition were opened in Ufa. Since 1995 the individual delivery rooms have been created in some M.h., childbirth with the partner and rooming‑in have been implemented. In the republic, there are individual M.h., obstetrics departments in municipal hospitals, perinatal centers, incl. Ufa Perinatal Centre, maternity centers No.3, No.4, Municipal Clinical Hospital No.3, Municipal Clinical Hospital No.8, the BSMU Clinic, the Kuvatov Republican Clinical Hospital, Mat i Ditya (Mother and Child) Clinical Hospital, Selo Verkhneyarkeyevo Central Hospital, Selo Sterlibashevo Rural Hospital, Selo Fyodorovka Central Hospital (2017).
