ROMANOV, Anatoly Aleksandrovich (b.27.9.1948 in Derevnya Mikhaylovka of Belebeyevsky Raion of the BASSR), Colonel General (1995), Hero of the Russian Federation (1995). Awarded with the Order of the Red Star (1987), Order for Personal Courage (1993), Order for Military Services (1994, No.1). Graduated from the Saratov F.E.Dzerzhinsky’ Higher Command School of the Internal Troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs (1972), Frunze’ Military Academy (1982) and K.E.Voroshilov’ General Staff Academy of the USSR Armed Forces (1990; both — in Moscow). Since 1967, at the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, since 1992 — of the RF. Since 1991, Division Commander of Internal Troops (Yekaterinburg). Since 1993 Deputy Commander, in 1995 Commander of the Internal Troops, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RF, Commander of the United Troops in Chechen Republic. Lieutenant General R. was awarded the title of Hero for the courage shown in the fights against terrorism in Chechnya in 1995.
