RUSSIAN ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY
RUSSIAN ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY under the Central Muslim Spiritual Board, a private institution of higher education. Founded in 1999 in Ufa as the R.Fakhretdin Russian Islamic University on the basis of the R.Fakhretdin Madrassa, which was established in 1989. The University received its modern name and status in 2003. The R.I.U. is a place of training for Imam Khatibs, Imam Muhtasibs, Mugallims, and teachers in Islamic Sciences and the Arabic language. Graduates are awarded the qualification of a Specialist, Bachelor and Master. Full‑time, part‑time and distance learning is available for both male and female departments. The madrassa was located in the buildings of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia and the First Grand Mosque. In 1999, the Madrassa had acquired a status of University under the auspices of the LyalyaTyulpan Mosque. Until 2005, the University had only part‑time and distance learning departments. The University has been located in the former Galiya Madrassa building since 2002.
