SABITOV, Nariman Gilyazevich (Gilyazetdinovich; 11.1.1925, Kazan — 9.6.1971, Sevastopol, buried in Ufa), Composer, Conductor. Merited Artist of the BASSR (1961). Laureate of BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1972) and the Award named after G.Salyam (1968). Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1955, 1971), Order of the Badge of Honour (1969).Member of the Union of composers of the BASSR. Between 1944—48, he studied at the Bashk. Studio at Moscow Conservatory. Graduated from Moscow Conservatory (1953). Since 1954, he worked as the Chief Conductor (between 1960— 69 — a Conductor) at Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre. He is one of the first professional composers of Bashkortostan, made a significant contribution to the development of theatrical, symphony, chamber‑vocal, group and choral music. Thematic diversity, appeal to Bashkir and Tatar music folklore in synthesis with classical and modern techniques of composition, predominance of lyrical and pathetic elements are characteristic of the artistic work of S. The leaders of his works are ballets Gulnazira, Mountain Eagle, I Love You, Life, Aigul Country. The author of the first Bashk. concerts: for violin with an orchestra (1951, 1959, 1965), pianoforte with an orchestra (1958). Among other compositions there is Heroic Poem,films Hunt and Poem about a handkerchief for symph. orchestra, cantata Immortality. The works of children’s music by S. are distinguished by their colourfulness and bright imagery: ballets Buratino, Murzilka‑cosmonaut, opera Magician without moustache, 4 polyphonic miniatures for pianoforte, a cycle of pianoforte plays Children’s Album, etc. The author of songs and romances, vocal and choral cycles, adaptations of Bashk. folk songs. The conductor style of S. was characterized by restraint and by the precision of gesture. Music School No.1 was named after S.
