SALAVATSKY RAION
SALAVATSKY RAION, located in the NE of the RB. Established on January 31, 1935 as Maloyazovsky Raion. Since March 4, 1941 has its current name. Territory – 2,182 km2. Adm. centre – Selo Maloyaz (between 1963–65 Selo Mesyagutovo), which is located 183 km NE of Ufa and 29 km of the Kropachyovo Railway Station (Chelyabinsk Obl.). Population – 23.9 thous. people.
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 109.1 thous. ha (50% of the total area), including arable lands – 35.2, hayfields – 31.2, pastures – 45.5; forest area – 101 and surface waters – 2.1. Agricultural enterprises [5 APCs, 5 OOOs, 180 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain, forage crops, meat and dairy cattle breeding, etc. Horse breeding and beekeeping are well‑developed. There are: a subsidiary of AO Bashkiravtodor, construction and lime, construction timber plants (all – in Mursalimkino), a Quarry Crushed Stone Plant (Derevnya Yahino), etc. South‑Ural Railway (Kropachyovo– Zlatoust Section) and the following highways: K r o p a c h y o v o – M e s y a g u t o v o – A c h i t (Sverdlovsk Obl.) and Maloyaz–Verkhniye K i g i – N o v o b e l o k a t a y – U n k u r d a (Chelyabinsk Obl.) cross the territory.
There are: a branch of Duvansky Multidisciplinary College, a gymnasium, 30 general education schools, 7 kindergartens, 3 supplementary schools; a central hospital and 3 rural hospitals, 25 medical and obstetrical centers, Yangan-Tau Health Resort, 38 clubs, 25 libraries and the Salavat Yulayev’ and R.Garipov’ museums. There are 3 folk amateur art groups.
