SCO AND BRICS SUMMITS

SCO AND BRICS SUMMITS, took place in Ufa on 8—10th July 2015.

The 7th BRICS Summit (informal interstate association of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) took place in Ufa on 8—10th July. As a result, Ufa Declaration was signed. According to it, the parties agreed to strengthen their joint efforts to respond the emerging challenges, to ensure peace and security, to eradicate poverty, inequality and unemployment, and to increase the role of the participating countries in world affairs. Ufa Declaration of the 4th BRICS Trade Union Forum was signed in the same period. It contains recommendations to the BRICS countries for the establishment of their own rating agency and stock exchange, and a call to reduce political tensions and to ensure security and stability in the world, etc.

The SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) Summit was held on 9—10th July. As a result, the declaration signed notes the member countries’ consolidated approach to the SCO’s continued development and to key international and regional issues. The SCO Development Strategy through to 2025 was also signed. The Strategy defined the directions and the fields of interaction, i.e. Politics, Security, Economy and Humanitarian Cooperation; the procedure for admission of India and the Islam Republic of Pakistan into the SCO. According to the Ufa Declaration, the Republic of Belarus gained the observer status within the SCO, while Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Kingdom of Cambodia and Federal Dem. Rep. of Nepal officially became the dialogue partners.
