SAFIULLIN, Halyaf Gateevich [20.3.1921, Derevnya Salikhovo of Ufimsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. (Chishminsky Raion of the RB) – 13.4.1965, Baku, buried in Ufa], Ballet Dancer, Choreographer. People’s Artist of RSFSR (1955), People’s (1949) and Merited (1946) Artist of BASSR. Awarded with the Order of the Badge of Honor (1946). After graduating from the Leningrad Choreographic School (1941), Soloist, and between 1960– 64 Leader of the ballet studio at the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre. One of the first Bashkir professional dancers. His performing art was distinguished by virtuoso technique, high and gentle elevation, temperament and musicality. S. was the first performer of the role of Yumagul (Crane Song) and others. Staged the ballets Swan Lake by P.I.Tchaikovsky, The Mountain Life by A.S.Klucharyov (both – worked jointly with E.Voitovich) and Buratino by N.G.Sabitov.
