S. has established the bases for thermodynamics of continuous media irreversible processes and phenomena of transfer, phase transitions and chemical transformations in disperse systems interacting with electromagnetic fields; he was the first in the USSR to give physical and technical justification of application of high frequency electromagnetic fields in the process of oil and gas production, treatment, transportation and refining. He is the founder of the research area “Electromagnetic thermodynamics”.
