AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Bashkir Research Centre, a stand‑alone structural unit of the Ufa Federal Research Centre, of the Russian Academy of Sciences (UFRC RAS). Located in Ufa. Established in 1956. Main activities: breeding of grain, bean, cereal, fruit and forage crop varieties, potato, etc; development of a mechanism of economic management and improvement of land relations in the Republican agricultural sector; efficient techniques of soil fertility recovery, adaptive farming systems, resource‑saving technologies of crop production, environment‑friendly fodder production systems; animal productivity enhancement methods; production and sales of high reproduction seed from agricultural crops, etc. The scientists of the Institute have bred more than 100 varieties of agricultural crops (81 are included in the State register of State Selection Achievements Register of the RF), including buckwheat Agidel, Inzerskaya, Bashk. Red‑stemmed and others, black currant Karaidel, grapes Alexandr, Bashkortostan, Karagay and Yubileyny; developed milk and meat breeds of the Bashkir horse; jointly with the Institute of Microbiology and Virology at the National AS of the Ukraine created biological agents (Phytosporin and Integral) for plant protection against diseases of agricultural crops; developed technologies for mare’s milk drying and recovery, making kumus, etc. Every year they sell more than 1.5 thousand tons of seed of high reproduction agricultural crops (the area occupied by crops selected by the Institute is about 1 Mil. ha in the RB). More than 170 invention certificates and patents have been obtained.
