DICTIONARY OF THE BASHKIR LANGUAGE

DICTIONARY OF THE BASHKIR LANGUAGE (Bashkort telenen huzlege), the normative definition dictionary of the Bashkir language in 2 volumes (M., 1993). It was created under the leadership of A.G.Biishev by a group of linguists of the History, Language and Literature Institute. It was compiled with the consideration of the changes and additions made in 1981 to the spelling of the Bashkir literary language. Contains 55 thous. units, reflecting the modern vocabulary of the Bashk. language. Words are arranged in the manner of alphabetical clusters. Texts from fiction, periodical press, folk songs, as well as proverbs and sayings are used as illustrations. Besides common lexis, it includes stylistically coloured vocabulary, obsolete words, dialectisms and phraseological units.
