STRIGIFORMES, an order of birds. There are 2 families knows with about 140 species. In the RB there are 12 species of Strigidae family. Non‑migratory, nomadic and migratory birds of small (the length of sparrow owl’s body reaches 18 cm with body mass range of 50–85 g), average (the length of long‑eared owl’s body reaches 37 cm with body mass range of 180–430 g), and large (the length of eagle owl’s body is 75 cm with body mass range of 2–3.3 kg) sizes, the females are larger. They eat rodents, other small mammals, birds, lizards, and insects. They inhabit forests, steppes, parks and gardens, swamps, backlog lands, meadows, fields, and forest edges. They are common everywhere. Eurasian eagle owl is included in The Red Lists of the RB and the RF, the great grey owl is also included in The Red List of the RB.
