SOKOLOV, Igor Alexandrovich (b.2.1. 1958 in Ufa), Athlete. Merited Sports Master of the USSR (1980), Merited Coach of Russia (1995), International Field Shooting Coach (2002). Awarded with the Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1985, 2004), Order of the Badge of Honour (1980). A trainee of the Ufa Shooting Club of the Russian Army, Air Force and Navy Volunteer Society (Coaches: A.P.Bannikov, V.B.Fokin). The 1st Champion of the Olympic Games in Bashkortostan (1980). The World Champion (9‑times, 1979–83), European Champion (8‑times, 1978–84), Silver Medalist of the World Singles Championships and the World Teams Championships (1979, 1983, 1986). The World Record holder (4‑times, 1980–83) and Champion of the Olympic Games (1980) among men, European Champion (1978) among juniors. Member of the USSR National Team (1978–88). Since 1991, he has been a Coach of the Russian National Team.
