SPIVAKOV, Vladimir Teodorovich (b.12.9.1944, Chernikovsk, now part of Ufa), Violinist, Conductor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1989), RF (1999), RB (2014), Armenian SSR (1989), Ukrainian Republic (2001), the Republic of Dagestan, Kabardino‑Balkar Republic (2013). Laureate of USSR State Award (1989), the State Award for Humanitarian Activity (2012). Awarded with the Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1993), the 2nd (2009), 3rd (1999) and 4th (2014) Class Order for Merits to the Fatherland, Order for Merits to the Republic of Bashkortostan (2013), and Salavat Yulayev Order (2019). Graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (1967). He is the Creator, Artistic Managing Director and Chief Conductor of the State Chamber Orchestra The Virtuosos of Moscow (1979), between 1999—2002 — Artistic Managing Director and the Chief Conductor of the Russian National Symphony Orchestra, since 2003 — the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia (all — in Moscow). He made a great contribution to the world art. He performed with orchestras under the direction of such outstanding conductors as K.Abbado, L.Bernstein, L.Maazel, R.Muti, S.Ozava, M.L.Rostropovich, E.F. Svetlanov, Yu.H.Temirkanov. He is the founder of Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation (branch in RB was opened in 1998). The founder and Artistic Managing Director of the International Music Festival in Colmar (France, 1989) and Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition in Ufa (2016), the founder and president of the Moscow International House of Music (2003), one of the initiators of the Music School for Young Talents named after S. in Salavat (2014).
