TAYANOVICH, Veniamin Igorevich (b.6.4.1967 in Ufa), Athlete. Merited Master of Sports (swimming) of Russia (1992). A trainee of the Specialist Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve No.18 (Coaches: O.V.Mikhaylova, N.P.Samoylov), between 1985–92 he played for the Sports Club of the Army (Moscow; Coach – G.G.Turetzky). The Olympic Champion and Silver Medalist (1992) in the relay. European Champion (2-times, 1991), the Silver (1991) and Bronze (1986, 1991) World Championships Medalist, Silver Medalist of the Goodwill Games (1986; 2-times, 1990), Bronze Medalist of the European Championship (1987) at 100 m and 200 m freestyle. The World and Olympic Champion (1992) in 4x200 m relay, the USSR Swimming at 200 m Freestyle Champion (1991). Member of the USSR National Team (1985–92).
