TELEVISION FILM, is a film created for showing on a network of television broadcasting. In Bashkortostan, the first television film appeared after the creation in 1959 of Bashkir TV studios under the guidance of the Committee for Broadcasting and TV of the Council of Ministers of Bashkortostan (ref. Bashkortostan). In 1965 on premises of the Bashkir television studios there was created a cinema complex and a film storage. A short film Bashkir Kumys was shot (1962) as well as The Meridian of Big Chemistry (1963). In 1965, the first full-length documentary Transfigured Edge was created for television. In the 1960s one of the leading genres became a portrait gallery of contemporary people and events: The Commander of the Voskhod Ship on the Bashkir Land (1964), The Re turn of the Light, A Tale of Ballet (both – in 1966), and others. The development of the industry of the republic was summarized in the film titled In the Oil Industry of Bashkiria (1967). In 1965, the first color documentary TV film was created. Between 1970—80s there begins a development of the genre of TV play. In 1979, there was filmed the first such TV film titled Gold is Collected in Bits based upon same novel by Ya.Kh.Khammatov. Films for TV as well as concerts were also created. The 1990–2000s were marked by the genre of thematic variety. The following films became famous: Hadiya (1990), Roe (2005, which became the laureate of the TEFI-Region All-Russian Television Competition, Sochi, 2005), Akbuzat (2007), etc. In 1996, graduates of VGIK filmed a documentary TV film titled Oran about the last days of Salavat Yulaev. Since 1990 TV films filmed at the Bashkortostan Studio have been: The Seventh Summer of Syumbel (2002), Thank you (2007), Nasty (2010), etc.
