TERMINOLOGICAL COMMISSION

TERMINOLOGICAL COMMISSION, a scientific organizational, coordinating and controlling body in the field of studying the status and developing of social, political, scientific and technical terminology of the Bashk. literary language. It was founded in August 1954 as the T.c. under the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the BASSR (since December 1994 — under the President of the RB, since 2002 — under the Government of the RB). The key activities: control over the status and prospects of the development, unification of the existing and approval of new terminology, regular analysis of terminology use on the pages of the press and other literary publications in the Bashkir language, at the institutions of culture and art, the provision of methodological assistance to the compilers of terminological dictionaries, to the designers of sign boards, to the manufacturers of stamps, forms and seals.
