TIMANOVA, Vera Viktorovna (6.2.1855, Ufa — 1942, Leningrad), Pianist. She was taught to play the piano by M.Ignatovich and L.K.Novitsky in Ufa, by A.G.Rubinstein and P.L.Peterson in St. Petersburg (1865), K.Tauzig at the Higher School of Music in Berlin (1868—70), by F.Liszt in Weimar (1872—73). An outstanding Russian pianist who gained worldwide fame. T.’s art was distinguished by artistry, elegance and virtuosic technique. She debuted in Ufa on January 21, 1865 by performing a concert by V.A.Mozart, plays by F.Chopin and F.Kalkbrenner in the hall of the Nobility Assembly building.
