STERLITAMAKSKY RAION

STERLITAMAKSKY RAION, located in the SW part of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930 in place of the volosts of Sterlitamaksky Canton. Territory – 2,219.8 km2. Adm. centre – Sterlitamak. Population – 42.9 thous. people (2017).

In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 189.5 thous. ha (85% of the total area), including arable lands – 129.3, hayfields – 14.4, pastures – 43.5; forest area – 13.2, surface waters – 2.1. Agricultural enterprises [Roshchinsky Sovkhoz, 2 APCs, 9 OOOs, 106 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, sunflower, dairy and meat cattle breeding, and pig breeding. Poultry farming is well-developed. There are: OP Ashkadarskoye, OAO Turbasly Broilers, a forestry enterprise, OOO Agropromenergo, AO BashAgroMash (both – in Zagorodny), OOO InvestRaiStroyZakazchik (Selo Mariinsky), etc. The Kuibyshev Railway (Dyoma–Tyulgan section), Ufa—Orenburg, Sterlitama k—S t e r l i b a s h e v o— Fyodorovka, Sterlitamak— Krasnousolsky, Sterlitamak— Raevsky, and Sterlitamak— Sterlibashevo— T y a t e r — A r a s l a n o v o highways cross the territory.

There are: Sterlitamak Interdisciplinary College, 29—general education schools, an orphanage, 15 pre-school educational institutions, a children’s arts school, 2 music schools, a youth’ sports school, a rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities (Naumovka), a young technicians’ club, a teenage club; City Hospital No.4 with a polyclinic, 4 rural hospitals, 4 medical outpatient clinics, 44 medical and obstetrical centers, a health centre; 2 palaces of culture, 37 clubs, and 38 libraries.
