THE AYGUL COUNTRY
THE AYGUL COUNTRY, a 3 act ballet by N.G.Sabitov with a prologue, and which is based on M.Karim’s drama with the same name. Written in 1971. The premiere took place in the same year at the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre (written by I.M.Karimov, Sabitov and I.Kh.Khabirov, the director was Khabirov, the conductor was Sabitov, and the set designer was M.N.Arslanov). In main roles: L.S.Kuvatova (Aigul), M.A.Tagirova (Zulkhabir), Sh.A.Teregulov (Richard), R.A.Nasyrov (Ildar) performed. The permeating theme of the play is one’s love for the Motherland. The music of this ballet is based on a contrasting comparison of various figurative spheres: in the characteristics of the main characters and pictures of peaceful life there are applied Bashkir ethnic song and dance intonation with hints of war and forces of aggression. The ballet uses modern tunes of European music. The choreography combines classic dance and modern plastique.
