TROFIMUK, Andrey Alekseyevich (3.8.1911, Derevnya Hvetkovich of Grodno Gub. — 25.3.1999, Novosibirsk), Petroleum Geologist. Acad. of the AS USSR (1958), Merited Acad. of the AS RB (1991), Dr. Sci. in Geology and Mineralogy (1949), Full Professor (1960). Hero of Socialist Labour (1944). Merited Master of Sciences and Technology of the RSFSR (1957), Merited Oilman of the USSR (1971), Merited Worker of the Gas Industry of the USSR (1981). Laureate of the Stalin Award (1946, 1950). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1944, 1948, 1967, 1975, 1981, 1986), Order of the October Revolution (1971), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1959, 1961). Graduated from the Kazan Polytechnic University (1933). Since 1934, he worked at the Vostokneft Trust, since 1940 – at the Bashneft Association (both — in Ufa); since 1950 – at the General Directorate of Oil Field Exploration of the Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR, from 1953 in VNIIneft (both — in Moscow); since 1957 – the Dir. of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics (since 1988 Honorary Dir.), since 1958 – the Deputy Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the AS USSR (both — in Novosibirsk). Since 1962 — in the Presidium of the RAS (since 1988 — Advisor). Scientific and production activity is dedicated to the geology of the oil fields of the WestSiberian and Volga-Ural petroleum provinces. He was the leader of the exploration of Kinzebulatovskoye, Serafimovskoye, Tuymazinskoye, etc oil fields. The Academy of Sciences of the RB established an award named after him.
