TUYMAZY DRAMA THEATRE, Tatar state-owned. Opened in 1990. The first Chief Stage Director — I.S.Gareyev (in 1990–92). The repertoire included the works of Tatar, Bashkir, Russian and foreign literature. The works of A.K.Safiullin (Chief Stage Director in 1994–96) were characterized by bright theatricality, lyrical and comic intonation. In 2000s, the creative activities of the theater were marked by search for various artistic techniques and expressive means. The repertoire mainly consisted of the comedies of modern Bashkir and Tatar authors: N.Asanbayev, N.Gaitbay, F.Galiyev, S.Ya.Latypov, D.H.Salikhov, etc. Performances ‘Intrigue and Love’ by F.Schiller (laureate, 2000), ‘Hamlet’ by W.Shakespeare (diploma winner, 2004; both — the participants of the Festival of the Theatres of Small Towns of Russia, Moscow) are distinguished by the original director’s interpretation; mystical drama ‘Night Like the Entire Life’ by M.G.Musifullin — by the depth of tragic and philosophical ring; ‘Forgotten by All’ by N.Hikmet (participant of the celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of N.Hikmet, Ankara, 2002; all — staged by O.Z.Hanov) – by sharp drama, poetic images. Between 2007–16, the Chief Stage Director was B.N.Ibragimov, who introduced new aesthetics into the theater, staged over 40 performances, including ‘Don’t Throw Fire, Prometheus!’ by M.Karim, ‘Legionaire’ by Z.Hakim, ‘Cursed Love’ by F.M.Bulyakov (winner of the Republican Theatre Festival of Bashk. Dramaturgy in nominations ‘The Best Director’ and ‘The Best Actor’, Sterlitamak, 2010), ‘I Will Enter the Forest’ by A.S.Gayazov, ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ by W.Shakespeare, ‘In the Cycle of Birches...” by R.M.Minnullin.
