TUYMAZINSKY RAION
TUYMAZINSKY RAION, located in the W of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. In 1935, territory of T.r. was part of Ermekeyevsky and Sharansky raions, between 1937—56 partially — in Kandrinsky Raion. Territory — 2,403.5 km2. Adm. centre — Tuymazy, which is located 170 km W of Ufa. Population — 68.2 thous. people (2017). In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 142.5 thous. ha (59% of the total area), including arable lands — 77, hayfields — 18.3, pastures — 45.0; forest area — 78.8, surface waters — 2.7. Agricultural enterprises [4 APCs, 13 OOOs, 136 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, sugar beet, potatoes, vegetables grown in protected and open grounds, meat and milk cattle breeding. Poultry farming, bee-keeping, mushroom farming, and floriculture are well-developed. On the territory of the raion, there are: a forestry enterprise, and OAO Tuymazy Poultry Farm. Also, there are: Serafimovsky Experimental Plant of Automation and Telemechanics, Tuymazytechuglerod, Uraltechnostroy-Tuymazykhimmash, AO Transneft-Ural Oil Pipeline Administration, Tuymazy Concrete Motor-Truck Plant, OOO Cardboard and Paper Plant, Serafimovskaya Pushynka, OAO Tuymazysteklo, SAVA Meat Processing Plant, etc. Since 1999, a wind farm has been operating in T.r. Kuibyshev Railway (Bugulma—Chishma Section and Tuymazy—Oktyabrsky Line), Samara—Ufa—Chelyabinsk, and Belebey—Nikolaevka—Tuymazy—Bakaly highways cross the territory. There are: 5 vocational schools, 33 general education schools, a children’s boarding house for mentally retarded children (Serafimovsky); 48 pre-school educational institutions, an arts school, 3 children’s music schools, 12 medical and preventive institutions, the Taly-Kul Children’s Health Resort, an emergency department, 51 medical and obstetrical centers, 6 health centers, a psychoneurologic boarding school; 36 clubs, 41 libraries (distant settlements are served by the bibliobus). In the raion, there are 20 folk amateur art groups.
