SULPAN

SULPAN (Morning Star), children’s theater of the Sibay Concert and Theater Association. It was founded in 1993 as Children’s Theatre S., since 1996 – Sibay Bashkir State Children’s Theatre S., since 2013 – its current name and status. The first Chief Stage Director — A. Sh.Kuvatova. In the 90s, when the artistic musical program was in the process of development, S. staged the plays mainly based on the works of Bashkir and Tatar folklore. Since 2000s, the productions have been staged in the Bashkir and Russian languages. The repertoire for preschool children included the performances with a tenuous plot: Devyasil Means Nine Forces by Z.H. Fayzullina, I Count To Five by S.Belov and S.Kuvayev, Golden Bee by S.Alibay, Mymryonok based on the play Mymrynok or Hello, Weirdo! by V.N.Afonin, etc; for the children of elementary-school and secondary-school age – the productions in the genre of fantastic, heroic and romantic adventures: All Boys Are Fools by K.V.Dragunskaya, While the Heart Is Still Beating by I.R.Almukhametov, Magic Kurai by M.M.Gimranov. Significant artistic achievements of the theater of this period were the performances of psychological and philosophical nature for youth: Seagull — Exile by N.Gaitbay, Odd Woman by N.N.Sadur. In the repertoire of the theater, there are also performances based on the works of classical literature: The Doctor in Spite of Himself by Molière, Garif In Love by Yu.Sidorov based on the fairy tale Ashik Kerib by M.Yu.Lermontov, The Tale of Tsar Saltan by A.S.Pushkin; puppet performances: I Don’t Want To Be a Dog by Belov and Kuvayev, Tactical Hare by S.Ya.Latypov.
