TOURIST ROUTES, pre-planned routes which include visits to historical places, cultural sites, nature monuments, etc for cultural, educational, health, sports and other purposes. In Bashkortostan, the first tourist route appeared in late 1920s in connection with the organization of independent hiking tours. Between 1950–70s, there developed the first in the RSFSR water sport, horseriding, wellness, eco-friendly, and caving routes. River cruises on tourist ships have been developing since 1958. In the republic, there also developed automotive routes in the Yuzhno-Uralsky Reserve. Cycling routes to the Bannoye Lake and water sports roots along the Agidel, Zilim, Nugush, Uryuk, and Yuryuzan rivers also were established. Combined mountain hiking, equestrian and on-foot tours have been organized to such sites as the Shulgan-Tash Reserve, the peaks of the Bolshoy Iremel, Bolshoy Shatak mountains, to the Nikolskaya Church and to the Muradymovskoe Gorge. Caving tours have been done to the Kinderlinskaya-LednyovOctyabrskaya Cave System, and Salavat Yulayev Cave. Excursion routes in Ufa, Belebey, Gafuriysky, Nurimanovsky, Salavatsky, and Ufimsky raions have also been set up.
