URALTAU

URALTAU, a landscape wildlife reserve of area 52.4 thous. ha in the territory of Uchalinsky Raion. It was organized to protect the heads of Belaya and Ural rivers and the surrounding natural complex (1981). In the territory of U. there are numerous swamps, including Kiryabinskoye and Tygynskoye swamps; the Belaya River originates here; within the territory of the wildlife reserve there lies the NE part of Uraltau Ridge, in the W — Iremel Mountain and Avalyak Ridge. The relief is represented by medium‑altitude mountains, it is dismembered by valleys.
