UFIMSKY RAION

UFIMSKY RAION, located in the central part of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. Territory — 1,512 km2. Adm. centre — Ufa. Population — 91.4 thous. people (2017). In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 108.7 thous. ha (70% of the total area), including arable lands — 69.9, hayfields — 13.0, pastures — 22.1; forest area — 30.0 and surface waters — 5.6. Agricultural enterprises [2 GUSPs, a collective farm, 6 state farms, 4 MUSPs, 58 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in growing grain, vegetable crops, potatoes, sunflower, dairy and meat cattle breedings. Horse breeding, pig breeding and poultry farming are well‑developed. On the territory of the Raion, there are: Educational and Experimental Forestry Enterprise of the BSAU, Milovskoye Educational and Experimental Farm, Ufa Experimental Farm, a veterinary station, a herbs seed production station, the Bashkirskaya and Ufimskaya poultry farms, stud farm No.119, FGUP Bashkirskoye and 2 fish farms. Also, there are: a bakery, Nikolayevskiye Products, etc. The Kuibyshev Railway (Dyoma—Ishimbaevo—Tylgan Section) and the Chernikovka—Vostochnaya—Blagoveshchensk Railway Line cross the territory. Highways: Samara—Ufa—Chelyabinsk, Ufa—Kazan and Ufa—Orenburg. The Belaya and Ufa Rivers provide for river logistics.

There are: Bashkir Agricultural College, 29 general education schools, an orphanage, 34 pre‑school educational institutions, a children’s art school, a children’s art centre, a youth centre, a sports school; rural polyclinics, 3 rural hospitals, 13 outpatient clinics, 25 medical and obstetrical centers, Yumatovo Health Resort, Ogonyok Children’s Health Retreat Camp; 31 clubs, 31 libraries, Museum of the 25th Chapaev’ Division, Museum of Combat and Labour Glory and an ethnographic museum in Selo Yumatovo, and the Krasny Yar Russian Historical and Cultural Centre. In the Raion, there are 10 folk and 6 exemplary amateur art groups.
