UCHILISHCHE OF ARTS, founded in Ufa in 1922 under the name of Bashk. Music Tekhnikum, since 1926 — Bashk. Tekhnikum of Arts. In 1936, it was reorganized into 2 independent educational institutions: Bashk. Mus. Uchilishche and Bashk. Theatrical Uchilishche. Since 1960 — both institutions have again been merged under the name of Ufa U.A., since 2012 — U.A. (college). Between 1997—2005, there was a branch of the U. in Sibay. Training is available at full‑time music and artistic departments and covers the following fields: vocal art, folk orchestra instruments, variety orchestra instruments, musical sound engineering skills, national instruments of the peoples of Russia, orchestral wind and percussion instruments, orchestral string instruments, theory of music, piano, choral conducting, pop singing, painting, design, decorative art, and sculpture. More than 12 thous. of specialists have been trained there.
