FILIPPOV, Alexander Pavlovich [7.11.1932, Selo Yumaguzino of Mrakovsky Raion of the BASSR (now Kugarchinsky Raion of the RB) – 15.10.2011, Ufa]. People’s Poet of the RB (2004). Merited Cultural Sector Professional of the RB (1992). Laureate of the Award named after G.Salyam (1974). Awarded with the Salavat Yulayev Order (2007). Member of the Union of Journalists of the RB and the Union of Writers of the RB. After graduation from the Bashkir Ped. Institute named after K.A.Timiryazev (1955) and until 1966 (intermittently) Editor of the Youth Broadcasting Studio of the Committee on Radio Broadcasting and TV under the Council of Ministers of the BASSR, between 1958–59, Head of Department at the Gornyak newspaper in Kumertau. Between 1966–68 and since 1981, employee at the Bashknigoizdat publishing house. Between 1968–78, Literary Adviser of Union of Writers of the BASSR. Since 1983, Dir. at Bashkortostan Branch of the Lit. Fund of the USSR, since 1989 – RSFSR, since 1991 – Dir. and Chief Editor of the Istoki newspaper (all – in Ufa). Author of the collection of short stories The Distant Echo (1976); collections of poems: The Good Light of the Day (1982), Winter Dream (1998) and The Past Resurrected in Memory (2002); a book of essays The Highly-Demanded by Time (1999), etc.
