MOLECULE AND CRYSTAL PHYSICS INSTITUTE, a stand-alone structural unit of the Ufa Federal Research Centre, of the Russian Academy of Sciences (UFRC RAS). Located in Ufa. Established in 1988. Main activities: fundamental and applied research in the sphere of physics, including studies of the electronic structure of molecules of biologically active substances, bio-polymeres and fullerenes, unbalanced structural transformations in media with spatial-temporal dispersion, processes of formation and decomposition of polyatomic negative ions, in particular, in lowtemperature plasma. The scientists of the Institute have studied the effect of low frequency rotation of molecules of a nematic liquid crystal in streams oscillating ultrasonic range. They have proposed an experimental method of assessment of molecular electrophile; discovered charge instability in polymers, pressure induced electronic switching, an enormous magnetoresistance in the structure ferromagnetic — organic material, a thermally-stimulated phase transition dielectric — metal; proposed a chain unlinking method for the Green functions with consideration of the local environment dynamics to be used for analysis of the kinetics in elementary acts of chemical reactions; developed methods for study of photomagnetic properties of magnetic-ordered crystals; created a method of mass spectrometry of negative ions, a laboratorymade micro-wave spectrometer, etc.
