KHAKIM (Khakimov), Akhiyar Khasanovich (23.8.1929, Derevnya Novoyanybekovo of Sterlitamaksky Canton of the BASSR, now Derevnya Novoyanbekovo of Davlekanovsky Raion of the RB, – 27.12.2003, Moscow, buried in Ufa). People’s Writer of the RB (2001). Candidate of Philological Sciences (1967). Merited Cultural Sector Professional of the RSFSR (1985). Laureate of the Gorky State Award of the RSFSR (1989), the Salavat Yulayev Award of the BASSR (1984) and the Salyam Award (1980). Awarded with the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd Class. (1985), Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1984), Order of the Red Star (1945), Order of the Badge of Honour (1979). Member of the Union of Writers of the RB. Graduated from the MSU in 1961. Since 1951, he worked in the secondary schools of Buzovyazovsky Raion of the BASSR. Between 1961—66, employee at the Agidel magazine in Ufa and between 1967—92 — the Literaturnaya Gazeta newspaper in Moscow. Between 1988—92, Secretary of the Board of the Union of Writers of the RSFSR. Between 1990 — 95, taught in Gorky Lit. Institute in Moscow. Author of the following historical novels: “Leather Box” (1982), “Crying of Dombra” (1984), “Caravan” (1997), etc.; short novels: “Bridge” (1975), “Lame Wolf” (1976), etc. The creative works of Kh. were translated into Kazakh, Russian, Turkmen, Uzbek, Ukrainian and other languages. Translated into Russian the Ural‑batyr epic. Kh. wrote the following collections of literary‑critical articles: “Literature and Modern Times” (1967), “On an Equal Footing With the Century” (1971). These articles are dedicated to the actual problems of modern Bashkir prose and artistic skill.
