KHAKIMOV, Karim Abdraufovich (born Gabdelkhakimov Gabdelkarim Gabdelraufovich; 15.11.1890, Derevnya Dyusenevo of Belebeyevsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub., now Derevnya Dyusyanovo of Bizhbulyaksky Raion of the RB — 10.1.1938, Moscow), Statesman and Diplomat. Participant of the Civil War. He studied at the Institute of World Economics and Politics of Red Professorship (Moscow, 1932—35). Since 1918 — a member of the Orenburg Gub. Muslim Military Revolutionary Committee, Gub. Executive Committee, RCP(b) Committee, People’s Commissar of Education of the Orenb. Gub. Executive Committee of the RCP(b). Since 1919 — the Commander of the 2nd Tatar and Bashkir Battalion. Since 1920 — Member of the Turkestan Front Political Administration. In the Bukhara People’s Soviet Republic he worked as the RSFSR Plenipotentiary Representative and the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Republic’s Communist Party. Since 1921 — Consul General and Plenipotentiary Representative of the USSR in Iran, between 1924 and 1927 — in the Kingdom of Hejaz, since 1929 — in Yemen and since 1935 — in Saudi Arabia. In 1937, he turned victim of the Great Purge and executed by shooting. Rehabilitated in 1956.
