KHAMMATOV, Yanybay Khammatovich [16.1.1925, Derevnya Ismakayevo of Tamyan‑Kataysky Canton of the BASSR (now Beloretsky Raion of the RB) — 28.9.2000, Ufa], a Writer. Merited Cultural Sector Professional of the RSFSR (1985). Laureate of the Salavat Yulayev RB State Award (1994), the VTsSPS and Union of Writers of the USSR Award (1974) and the Akmulla Award (2001). Member of the Union of Writers of the RB. Participant in the Great Patriotic War. Graduated from the Obl. 2‑year Party School under the Bashkir Obl. Committee of the CPSU in 1954 and Timiryazev Bashkir Ped. Institute in 1956. Between 1937—42, he worked at the Verkhne‑Avzyansky gold mine of the Bashzoloto Trust. Since 1946, he worked in Beloretsky Raion Committee of the All‑Union Leninist Young Communists League. Since 1949 – in Bashk Obl. Committee of the the All‑Union Leninist Young Communists League. Before 1952, Political Department Deputy Head of the Bashzoloto Trust. Since 1954, Instructor at Bashkortostan Obl. Committee of the CPSU. Since 1960, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Abzelilovsky Raion Council. Between 1963—69, Head of the Organizational and Structural Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the BASSR. Author of the pentalogy, which includes the following novels: Gold Gathers in Fractions, Akhman — Tokman (1971), Storm Summer (1975), Yurgashty (1980), Ore (1982); Northern Cupids (in 2 vol., 1983—1985); Birthday (1978); Murtazin, a Brigade Commander (1992); Origins of Agidel (1993), etc. The creative works of Kh. translated into Azerbaijani, Russian, Tat., Ukrainian and other languages.
