INSTITUTE OF CHEMISTRY of the UFRC RAS. Located in Ufa. Established in 1951. Main activities: design and streamlined synthesis of organic molecules with specified properties; development of new methods of heterocyclic system synthesis; catalytic synthesis, modification of polymers and composites; oxidation process kinetics and mechanism; chemistry of excited states of polymer molecules, metal complexes and reactions followed by light emissions; homo‑ and heterofunctions of compounds in complex formation with metals and pharmacons, disposal of harmful industrial wastes, etc. The institute has developed process diagrams for obtaining important biologically active compounds, created prostaglandin pyrethroid agents, pharmacons and juvenoids; obtained a class of high‑molecular compounds of polyarylenephthalides possessing valuable electrical and physical properties and thermal stability; proposed technologies for recovery and treatment of uranium, rare earth and other elements. More than 900 invention certificates and 90 patents have been obtained. It provides postgraduate education and incorporates a Dissertation Defence Board.
