THE CENTER OF TOURISM, LOCAL HISTORY SCIENCE AND EXCURSIONS

THE CENTER OF TOURISM, LOCAL HISTORY SCIENCE AND EXCURSIONS, a republican children’s recreational and educational organization. Created in 1932 in Ufa as Bashkir Central Excursion Tourist Station. Since 1946, it was the Bashkir Republican Children’s Excursion Tourist Station, since 1977 – the Republican Station of Young Tourists, since 1991 – the Republican Center for Children’s Tourism and Excursions. It has its present name since 2003. Between 1941–46, the organization was not active. It carries out organizational‑methodical administration for the development of historically oriented tourist activities within the system of supplementary education for children. The center has departments of local history and museum science, recreation and children’s health retreat, tourism and sports orientation, rehabilitation tourism, and excursion services. The main scope of activities are: interest clubs; competitions in tourism and sports orientation, hiking, meetings, courses, seminars, excursions, expeditions and specialized camps. The organization runs the Museum of the History of the Education Development in the RB, a children’s tourist center in Ufa, a climbing gym, assembly halls, a library, etc. The center is the winner of the All‑Russia contests of customized programs for children’s supplementary education (2002) and technologies to help the organizers of the local tourist tours and excursions organizers teach students (2001, 2008).
